About The Position

Customized Assistance Services (CAS) helps Human Resources Administration (HRA) clients with health and/or mental health conditions reach their highest attainable level of functioning and self-sufficiency by providing comprehensive, integrated, individualized clinical and support services. CAS works with other components of HRA and with other governmental and non-governmental service providers to create new programs and to integrate and refine existing services so the people it serves can achieve their maximum functional capacity. The Disability Services Program (DSP) assists clients in obtaining disability through either the Medicaid under Aid to the Disabled (MA-AD) program or the Social Security Administration's Disability (SSI/SSDI) programs. Under general direction of the Supervisor within the Office of Support Services with latitude for independent judgment and initiative, performs routine clerical work of moderate difficulty and responsibility, the Disability Services Program (DSP) Clerk will be responsible for essential clerical functions and providing essential program support services to DSP. Assisting clients in obtaining disability benefits is a key component of HRA's efforts to help clients obtain their maximum level of functioning and self-sufficiency.

Requirements

  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization.
  • One year of satisfactory clerical experience.
  • Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.

Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain the DSP tracking system by data entering all case referrals, demographic and new information submitted by clients and other sources into the DSP tracking system.
  • Manage the workflow into DSP system by reviewing the records and having the case assigned to appropriate staff.
  • Maintain the appointment log and cover reception desk.
  • Greet clients and update their record in the system as kept appointments.
  • Answer telephone inquiries by clients and other HRA divisions concerning the verification of client's appointment.
  • Provide information to HRA divisions and other governmental agencies on the status of referrals submitted.
  • Verify participants status, demographics, and eligibility for DSP services via accessing other systems including, but not limited to, WMS, NYCWA and HRA VIEWER, in order to sort and process incoming correspondences.
  • Deliver incoming and outgoing mail to and from building's mailroom and scan and index incoming correspondences.
  • Monitor office equipment functionality and status of equipment supplies.
