About The Position

The Disability Services Manager will oversee and manage the comprehensive Workers Compensation (WC) and Leave of Absence (LOA) programs at Nationwide Children's Hospital. This role requires a deep understanding of Ohio BWC code, as well as federal and state leave laws, to ensure compliance and effective administration of leave programs. The manager will collaborate with various teams to enhance employee experience and reduce costs associated with claims.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of direct worker's compensation experience with extensive knowledge of Ohio WC processes.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with state and federal leave laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding customer service, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage competing demands.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Establish standards and procedures for leave of absence administration (WC/FMLA/ADA/STD/USERRA) and ensure compliance.
  • Interpret and administer LOA programs and policies in accordance with federal and state employment laws.
  • Develop communications to educate managers and employees on leave programs and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Employee Health Services, Benefits team, and legal teams as needed.
  • Partner with Safety Governance Team to support injury reduction initiatives.
  • Manage WC claim investigations, settlements, and litigation in partnership with the TPA.
  • Analyze claims data and trends to identify areas for improvement and implement proactive measures.
  • Develop and track goals for WC & LOA activities to enhance employee experience and performance management.
  • Provide annual reporting of WC claims and leave data to senior management in partnership with the TPA.
  • Manage TPA and vendors to enhance the cost-effectiveness of WC and leave programs.
