About The Position

The Disability Services Internship at Via of the Lehigh Valley offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in various programs that support individuals with disabilities. Interns will rotate through different services, shadowing professionals and ultimately being placed in a specific program for the duration of their internship. This role emphasizes learning about vocational, social, and communication skills development for individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Currently accepted/enrolled in a Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or Human Services & Rehabilitation program.
• Valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and appropriate vehicle insurance are required.
• Flexibility with the schedule is necessary.
• Ability to work in a variety of settings and adapt to an ever-changing environment.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through and experience various programs offered by Via of the Lehigh Valley.
• Shadow professionals in the field to gain knowledge about services for individuals with disabilities.
• Assist in Community Connections, Adult Training Services, Small Group Employment, Pre-Vocational Training, and Community Employment programs.
• Provide support and coaching to individuals with disabilities in various settings.
