About The Position

The Disability Determination Psychological Consultant is a permanent, full-time position with the Department of Education, Disability Determination Service. Positions are located in Birmingham and Mobile. This is professional psychological work in providing advice and consultation to agency personnel regarding individual claims for Social Security and Supplemental Security Income disability benefits.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert psychological advice and consultation to agency personnel on individual claims for disability benefits
• Conduct psychological evaluations and assessments of claimants to inform disability determination decisions
• Develop and implement psychological assessments and testing protocols to support disability determination decisions
• Collaborate with agency personnel to ensure comprehensive and accurate disability determination decisions
• Stay current with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines related to disability determination and psychological assessment
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities to maintain expertise and stay current with best practices in disability determination and psychological assessment
