About The Position

The Disability Benefit Specialist will be relied upon to obtain and evaluate information in order to determine eligibility of benefits. This role requires a general knowledge of disability contracts, policies, and products, as well as a continued understanding of medical and vocational issues. The specialist will use a disability claims system for timely and accurate claims review, and will be responsible for effective communication of rationale for claims action. Additionally, the specialist will communicate decisions effectively, both verbally and in writing, to impacted parties such as Employees and Employers. The role also involves establishing future action plans and forming strategies for return to work based on the utilization of medical management resources, including the Client Advocate.

Requirements

• General knowledge of disability contracts, policies, and products.
• Understanding of medical and vocational issues.
• Experience with disability claims systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
