About The Position

Equitable is seeking a dynamic Disability and Life Waiver Specialist to join our Disability and Absence Claims organization. This role will play a critical part in reimagining the waiver of premium process and ensuring exceptional service delivery for our claim teams. This position offers a flexible work schedule: it may be fully remote/hybrid. If you are located near one of our offices (e.g., Charlotte, NC; New York, NY), a hybrid schedule with 2–3 days on-site per week is expected to foster collaboration and connection. The base salary range for this position is $47,000 - $65,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in Long Term Disability and Life claims or related field.
  • Experience with waiver of premium for Long Term Disability and Life Claims coverages Excellent customer relationship management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable dealing with complexity and ambiguity and able to explore multiple solutions
  • Data Integrity: Knowledge of objectives, terminologies, and approaches of data integrity; ability to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data in various business environments.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with FINEOS Claims software platform preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Claims Processing: Review and analyze claims for waiver of premium benefits, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate. Determine eligibility for waiver of premium benefits based on policy terms and conditions. Communicate with insured parties, policy holders and other stakeholders to gather necessary information.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain detailed and organized records of all claims processed. Ensure compliance with federal, state and company regulations and guidelines. Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external audits where applicable.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving concerns related to premium waiver claims. Educate insured parties and policy holders on waiver of premium provisions as needed to align with the ongoing claim management process.
  • Collaboration: Collaborates with internal departments, external partners, and other key stakeholders to resolve complex claim issues when needed. Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
