About The Position

Lifesteps is seeking a full-time Disabilities Plan Coordinator for the Special Needs Adult Training Facility in Kittanning, PA. Lifesteps is a local, human services organization which has been serving Western Pennsylvania for over 100 years by “helping individuals and families with life's changing needs”. The Agency provides programs and services to help those with special needs live to their fullest potential. Position Summary: The Disabilities Plan Coordinator is responsible for instruction to adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities at the Day Program. The role provides support and daily care, assists with activities and program planning, and ensures the clients safety. Responsibilities include implementing individualized program plans, teaching life skills, and documenting progress. This position is also responsible for being a Program Specialist, which creates client goal plans, observes and reports performance of clients in a variety of situations, and maintains a safe and clean environment. This full-time position works Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. No Evenings, No Weekends, No Holidays!

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree OR 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university and 4 years’ experience working directly with persons with disabilities OR a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of experience working directly with persons with disabilities OR a Master's degree or above from an accredited college or university and 1 year of experience working directly with persons with disabilities
  • Possess a valid driver's license and auto insurance
  • Must be able to lift up to 200 pounds with assistance
  • Must be able to pass a background check and obtain clearances
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Human Services, Social Services, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, Art or Dance Therapy Psychology, or any similar degree and 2 years of working directly with persons with disabilities
  • Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators Certificate (ACRE)
  • Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
