Requirements

  • Successful completion of the RDI Team Member Selection System.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by wearing appropriate safety equipment (i.e., glasses, steel-toed shoes, ear plugs, etc.), following safe work practices and operating equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor temperature of iron in bottom pour to ensure optimal flow/quality of iron.
  • Obtain a broad understanding of the Disa mold machines through on-the-job training, classroom training, experience and reading machine manuals.
  • Uses precision measurement devices such as calipers, weight scales, and temperature probes to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Monitor and maintain the appropriate iron level in the bottom pour ladle.
  • Monitor iron pouring process to ensure molds are filled with the appropriate amount of iron.
  • Collect iron samples from each heat for quality testing.
  • Enter appropriate production information into Koins and Disa screens.
  • Monitor various gauges, dials, digital displays, and computer screens to maintain production/product specifications within the respective parameters.
  • Complete various forms/documents to record production details.
  • Visually inspects for defects and determine if the pattern needs to be replaced or adjusted. Visually compare the pattern to the sand mold.
  • Troubleshoot molding/pouring problems by identifying the source of the problem and resolving the problem by means of personal experience, researching related documents and interacting with peers, Supervisor, and maintenance.
  • Clean out bottom pour orifice by using a lance to burn out excess slag to improve the flow of iron.
  • Change patterns on Disa mold machine.
  • Perform minor preventative maintenance on molding machine and related equipment (wiping/cleaning machine, unjamming sand feeder, cleaning off sand build up on AMC rails, etc.).
  • Use and maintain various hand tools including wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, chisels, grinders, etc.
  • Operate a stand up and sit-down rider forklift.
  • Safety and environmental responsibilities and tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and be “tour ready”.
  • Weekend overtime is required.
