About The Position

As part of BGCA's strategic transformation, Future Ready, you'll join a team focused on strengthening the learning and development experiences of youth development professionals across the country. The Director, Youth Development Learning & Development leads the design and delivery of competency-based trainings, consultation services, and scalable learning tools that help Clubs build capacity and improve quality. This role is focused on enabling local organizations to develop the systems, practices, and people necessary to deliver high-impact youth experiences. You'll collaborate across BGCA and with Club leaders to design learning solutions and support strategies that build the capacity of youth development professionals and advance program quality. This position is ideal for an experienced learning leader who thrives in dynamic environments, can translate complexity into clarity, and is energized by building systems that build people.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related field preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in adult learning, facilitation, coaching/consulting, or instructional design.
  • Experience with user-centered design, competency-based learning, and data-informed improvement strategies.
  • Familiarity with the Boys & Girls Club Movement, youth development principles, or nonprofit sector strongly preferred.
  • Experience with NTI, Weikart Methods, or EART is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and ability to adopt new technologies quickly.
  • Comfort with up to 20 percent travel including occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with Club leaders to assess professional development systems and deliver customized support.
  • Help organizations build and strengthen training strategies that support whole-child development and improve youth outcomes.
  • Serve as a trusted partner and thought leader in capacity-building conversations.
  • Develop evidence-informed, competency-based trainings grounded in adult learning principles.
  • Create learning journeys, onboarding tools, and job aids to strengthen staff development pipelines.
  • Apply data and feedback to continuously improve training quality and learner experience.
  • Advance the National Trainers Initiative (NTI) by equipping a national network of facilitators to decentralize training delivery.
  • Design scalable tools, templates, and resources that help trainers deliver high-quality learning.
  • Build community among trainers through virtual events, communications, and learning opportunities.
  • Work cross-functionally to embed youth development learning into broader initiatives and strategies.
  • Align learning development with other schools in Spillett Leadership University and organizational development efforts.
  • Represent BGCA at conferences and events, elevating our commitment to program quality and professional learning.
