About The Position

The Director, Web Systems Manager serves as the technical architect and operational lead for Cresset’s digital web ecosystem. This role oversees all web infrastructure, hosting, domain management, and content delivery performance — ensuring the security, compliance, scalability, and operational excellence of Cresset’s digital presence. Operating at the intersection of Marketing Technology and IT, this role supports growth marketing initiatives while maintaining a secure, performant, and compliant foundation for all public-facing websites.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience managing enterprise-grade WordPress environments.
  • Deep expertise in hosting, CDN, DNS, SSL, caching, and deployment infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of web security, privacy compliance, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with Elementor or comparable WordPress frameworks.
  • Proficient in Google Tag Manager, GA4, analytics integrations, and JavaScript auditing.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate across Marketing, IT, and Compliance teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on automation, governance, and scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Web Infrastructure & Hosting Management Serve as primary administrator for WPEngine environments, including production, development, and backup servers.
  • Manage hosting configurations, domain and subdomain DNS, SSL certificates, CDN, and caching performance.
  • Oversee WordPress + Elementor architecture, including plugin selection, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Manage deployment workflows between staging and production environments, ensuring uptime and performance standards.
  • Implement redundancy, backup, and monitoring strategies aligned with business continuity plans.
  • Security, Compliance & Governance Conduct regular security and vulnerability audits of all sites, plugins, and integrations.
  • Lead JavaScript and cookie compliance audits aligned with GDPR, CCPA, and internal data policies.
  • Audit third-party scripts and integrations in coordination with Legal and Compliance to ensure privacy and data integrity.
  • Establish and enforce governance standards for plugin management, data collection, and analytics scripts.
  • Analytics, Tag Management & Tracking Own Google Tag Manager (GTM) and GA4 implementation and governance across all Cresset web properties.
  • Partner with Growth Marketing to ensure accurate tracking, campaign attribution, and compliant data collection.
  • Maintain and optimize data layer structures supporting performance reporting and automation initiatives.
  • Content & UX Execution Build and deploy new pages, templates, landing pages, and reusable content blocks using WordPress and Elementor.
  • Ensure all content adheres to Cresset’s brand, UX, accessibility, and performance standards.
  • Support ongoing SEO/GEO initiatives and technical optimization strategies.
  • Team Leadership & Enablement Provide oversight, mentorship, and direction for the Web Production / Web Developer role.
  • Deliver training, documentation, and governance standards for internal WordPress/Elementor users to ensure consistent quality and compliance.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to streamline workflows between Marketing, IT, and Compliance teams.
