The Role Reporting to the VP of Market Data and Vendor Strategy, the Director of Vendor & Risk Oversight develops an enterprise-wide strategy for third-party market data vendor oversight. They also lead sourcing governance and manage operational risk mitigation. This role ensures that all market data vendor relationships support business objectives, follow regulatory expectations, and align with the company’s risk appetite. The Director will partner closely with senior leadership, vendor relations, legal, technology, security, and business collaborators to optimize vendor value while managing risk across the lifecycle of market data third party engagements. Lead the end‑to‑end market data vendor management program, including due diligence, onboarding, performance monitoring, contract compliance, and vendor blocking issue resolution. Develop and refine vendor governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure consistent application across the organization. Find opportunities to improve vendor performance while reducing risk. Develop effective communication with key vendors and internal contacts to ensure aligned priorities and support for blocking issues. Oversee third‑party risk assessments, including financial, operational, information security, data privacy, and business continuity. Ensure vendor risk ratings are updated and documented in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements. Partner with Legal, Compliance, Information Security, and Vendor Relations to ensure adherence to relevant regulations (e.g., SOX 404, GDPR, etc.). Monitor emerging risks and propose mitigation strategies to senior leadership. Mentor a high‑performing vendor and risk management team. Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and proactive risk awareness. appropriate) The Skills & Experience You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field; MBA or relevant certification (e.g., CTPRP, CISM, PMP) is a plus. 8–12+ years of experience in vendor management, third‑party risk, procurement, or related fields. Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and risk management principles. Experience in financial services, market data, technology, or other highly regulated industries. Familiarity with vendor management platforms (e.g., Archer, ServiceNow VRM, Coupa). Analytical approach with experience using data to drive decisions. Demonstrated leadership excellence, including managing teams and providing coaching, mentoring, and career development support to team members. Exceptional project management, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
