About The Position

The Director, Utility Delivery will be responsible for the team leading Utility Development across the North American footprint. This leader owns all utility distribution, transmission, and substation efforts (both utility and QTS-led) to deliver projects on-budget, on-time, and as-scoped. This team also leads engagement and contracting with third-party partners such as substation EPCs, equipment vendors, and commissioning agents. This role will interface and collaborate with many critical stakeholders, including but not limited to pre-development teams leading entitlements; utility engagement teams leading power due diligence; energy leaders driving power contracts and negotiations; sales teams coordinating customer demands; technical engineering teams; finance teams; and development team project leaders planning and building new data centers. RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, energy management, or equivalent professional experience
  • Ten or more years of utility and energy projects, along with construction management
  • Four or more years of people leader experience
  • Experience delivering utility and/or client HV substations
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with executives and collaborating effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time or as needed to support relationship building and delivery

Responsibilities

  • Leader for the team driving transmission & substation projects across North America
  • Lead and expand the team of Utility Program Managers, Project Managers, and Coordinators
  • Manage and expand relationships with key substation EPC partners
  • Manage and expand relationships with key high- & medium-voltage equipment suppliers
  • Oversee HV & MV equipment procurement alongside QTS procurement leads
  • Lead all aspects of high-voltage projects, including scope, schedule, & budget
  • Negotiate contracts with substation EPCs
  • Track and report on power project status for all North American sites
  • Drive and own utility portfolio-level budget and financial reporting to QTS leadership
  • Develop project and equipment forecasts to aid procurement & vendor partners
  • Collaborate with Pre-Development, Utility Engagement, Energy, Development, Legal, and Sales to deliver power capacity in line with customer demands
