Your Opportunity: Director, US Renewables Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Development & US Renewables, the Director, US Renewables leads Capital Power’s renewable development platform in the United States. The role is accountable for driving strategic direction, growth, and advancement of the US renewables pipeline, including solar, storage, and hybrid opportunities. This leader directs project development strategy, market prioritization, site and land acquisition, early‑stage commercial assessments, and cross-functional coordination. They oversee and develop the team of business developers and commercial managers working on US renewable projects, ensuring disciplined execution and alignment with Capital Power’s long‑term growth strategy.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years US renewable development leadership.
  • Deep knowledge of US power markets, land acquisition, and interconnection.
  • Experience leading development teams.
  • Track record maturing projects from origination through construction.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration experience.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring US market developments to shape development choices.
  • Providing recommendations on market entry, site prioritization, and project selection.
  • Leading expansion of the US development pipeline through land acquisition, partnerships, and origination.
  • Ensuring alignment with corporate commercial thresholds and growth strategy.
  • Guiding advancement across key US markets.
  • Directing teams through all stages of renewable project advancement.
  • Coordinating cross-functional SME input.
  • Removing barriers and maintaining project momentum.
  • Building and leading a high performing US Renewables team.
  • Coaching and developing team capability and performance.
  • Overseeing commercial evaluations and early‑stage economics.
  • Guiding valuation and finance support.
  • Representing Capital Power with landowners, developers, utilities, and off takers.
  • Leading commercial negotiations and partnership discussions.
