About The Position

What you get to do in this role: The Director - US International Tax Planning has a key role in the Tax Organization reporting to the Senior Director of International Tax. This position will lead the US International tax planning and strategy function and have responsibility for providing analysis and support for the development, implementation and defense of our US international tax strategy. This role will collaborate closely with cross functional business stakeholders to optimize the company’s tax position and ensure compliance with U.S. and international tax regulations. You must have the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and to work closely and proactively with numerous functional teams across our organization. This position will be based in Santa Clara, California, USA. Serve as a key member of the global tax team, fostering strong relationships to ensure alignment on tax strategy, processes, and organizational goals. Develop and implement comprehensive U.S. and international tax planning strategies that support business goals, mitigate tax exposures, and optimize effective tax rate. Advise on US international tax rules, including Subpart F, FDII, GILTI, foreign tax credits, and other relevant international tax provisions. Support new market expansion, M&A activities, intercompany funding, repatriation, and cross-border transactions to ensure tax efficiency and compliance. Partner with FP&A, Corporate Development, Legal, Finance, Treasury, HR, Operations, Supply Chain, and R&D to drive integrated execution of tax strategies and evaluate business opportunities. Conduct thorough tax research on complex U.S. and international tax issues to support strategic decision-making. Monitor and analyze changes in domestic and international tax laws and regulations, assess their impact on the company and recommending proactive responses to relevant stakeholders. Coordinate and collaborate within the Tax Team to integrate tax planning and restructuring into tax compliance, transfer pricing, and tax accounting reporting processes. Provide support for tax audit and tax controversy matters, including assisting with the preparation of responses to tax authority information requests on US International tax issues. Partner with internal stakeholders and external advisors to evaluate business opportunities and global initiatives.

Requirements

  • Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
  • CPA, JD, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or industry; experience with large U.S.-based multinationals or SaaS companies is a plus.
  • Proven technical expertise in multinational tax operations and cross-border tax planning.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. and global tax regulations, transfer pricing, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong skills in tax research, technical analysis, and documentation to support tax positions.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with financial modeling and economic analysis experience.
  • Experience with tax forecasting, tax modeling, FIN 48 analysis and transfer pricing.
  • Effective partnership with cross-functional stakeholders and ability to clearly communicate complex tax issues to non-tax audiences.
  • Solid project management skills and experience managing internal and external relationships.
