About The Position

As the company’s lead Subject Matter Expert (SME) for U.S. Export Controls and Sanctions, you will be the authoritative voice on ITAR, EAR, and OFAC regulations. You will play a central role within our global Foreign Trade team, partnering closely with international stakeholders to strengthen and harmonize our global compliance standards, processes, and tools. This is a high‑visibility role with global impact.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of U.S. Export Controls & Sanctions experience (EAR, ITAR, OFAC) with a law degree (JD required).
  • 3+ years leading or influencing cross‑functional teams in a corporate or law‑firm environment.
  • Deep expertise in U.S. export controls, sanctions laws, and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and decision‑making capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and collaborate across global teams.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Continuous learner with strong research capabilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working independently within a multinational corporation.
  • Proven ability to assess complex issues quickly and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Working knowledge of international export control and sanctions laws, including N. America, Europe, and Asia
  • Preferred location in Charlotte, NC, Greenville, SC or Chicago, IL areas based on proximity to Rexroth offices

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert U.S. regulatory perspective to guide global risk management and shape worldwide compliance standards in areas such as jurisdiction/classification, technology controls, licensing, defense business, and sanctions.
  • Guide the business regarding governance requirements and global standards for export control and sanctions compliance.
  • Continuously monitor U.S. laws and regulatory developments (ITAR, EAR, OFAC, Executive Orders) and evaluate their impact on Bosch Rexroth operations globally.
  • Translate regulatory changes into practical business requirements and process controls.
  • Support ongoing design and enhancement of the global export control & sanctions program.
  • Improve reporting systems, analyze trends, and drive implementation of new compliance requirements.
  • Lead U.S. export control audits, internal health checks, and risk‑indicator data analysis.
  • Support internal and external investigations of potential violations and act as liaison with U.S. government agencies.
  • Serve as the lead SME and daily advisor on jurisdiction/classification, licensing, contract language, boycott issues, screening, training, and due diligence.
  • Partner closely with business units and central departments to ensure compliant operations.
