About The Position

The Director of Employee Benefits and Pensions Department is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing various defined contribution, defined benefit, and other ERISA plans sponsored by the International Union, UAW. This position involves managing retirement plan administration, employee benefits, and auto insurance administration, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing education and support to employees regarding their benefits. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills to effectively manage complex tasks and collaborate with various stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
• 4 years of experience in retirement plan administration at the TPA or corporate level.
• 3 years of experience in finance and investment plans preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage complex tasks and streamline operations.

• Supervising experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for actuary, auditor, and financial institutions regarding retirement plans.
• Oversee daily and annual administration of multiple ERISA plans including Staff Severance Plan, Staff Retirement Income Plan, and others.
• Process monthly pension payrolls and participant distributions for various pension plans.
• Assist in preparation and administration of meetings for pension joint boards.
• Review and approve all plan documents requiring signature of the President.
• Provide employee education seminars on benefits.
• Assist legal counsel in plan document interpretation and compliance.
• Approve payment of invoices and premiums for department expenses.
