About The Position

The Director of TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Programs provides leadership, direction, and oversight for federally funded SSS Classic and SSS STEM grants, ensuring full compliance with U.S. Department of Education regulations. This role is responsible for developing, coordinating, and evaluating services that support the success, retention, and graduation of students from various backgrounds. The Director fosters a culture of student success through program development, collaborative partnerships, budget management, and strategic leadership.

Requirements

  • This position requires either twelve years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Human Services, or a related field and six years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Experience administering a TRIO program or similar support program for first-generation, low-income, or students with disabilities.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative leadership, direction, and day-to-day coordination for all aspects of the TRIO SSS Classic and STEM programs.
  • Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates professional and student staff.
  • Develops, implements, and assesses programs and services to support first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities.
  • Prepares, manages, and oversees program budgets in accordance with the U.S. Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR), Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and state and University guidelines; demonstrates fiscal responsibility and ensure proper stewardship of grant funds.
  • Ensures program compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies.
  • Corresponds in a timely manner with the designated Program Officer through the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Prepares and submits annual performance reports (APR) and other required data to the U.S. Department of Education and the University.
  • Reviews and evaluates program documentation, maintain accurate records, and ensure confidentiality.
  • Monitors and evaluates performance objectives.
  • Uses data to guide programmatic adjustments and improvements.
  • Coordinates assessment plans and updates program outcomes regularly.
  • Collaborates with community and campus partners including, but not limited to, Center for Academic Achievement, Adaptive Services, Outreach Programs, Financial Aid, Admissions, Career Development Services, and University Advising Services.
  • Facilitates workshops, training, and committee involvement to advocate for and support the needs of TRIO SSS participants.
  • Coordinates grant writing activities and supports additional funding efforts.
  • Serves as a visible leader and resource for institutional initiatives related to student access, persistence, and success.
  • Stays informed of national best practices, emerging trends, and policy changes affecting TRIO Student Support Services.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
