The Director of Transmission Strategy will lead Antora’s transmission and interconnection activities, including defining Antora’s transmission and interconnection strategy, advocating in front of RTOs/ISOs and utilities to create transmission service that works for flexible, low load factor loads, identifying ideal grid locations for our thermal energy storage projects, and ensuring rapid and cost-effective interconnections in partnership with our utilities. They will lead the internal team managing interconnections and will externally represent Antora with RTOs/ISOs, transmission providers, and utilities to shape policy and strategic outcomes.

  • Oversee interconnections for multiple 100+MW thermal energy storage projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Develop strategies to minimize transmission costs, including designing innovative RTO and/or utility tariff structures to provide non-firm or dispatchable transmission services.
  • Direct analytical efforts and utilize tools to identify optimal project sites.
  • Act as Antora’s leading voice on transmission policy, engaging externally with RTOs/ISOs, utilities, and regulatory entities through testimony, written filings, white papers, and industry presentations.
  • Ensure strategic alignment across internal departments including business development, operations, and government affairs/policy teams.
  • 10+ years experience in transmission strategy, interconnection management, regulatory advocacy, or related roles within energy storage, renewables, utilities, or energy consulting.
  • Experience influencing RTO/ISO transmission policy and cost allocation discussions.
  • Strong understanding of transmission tariff structures and strategies to minimize associated project costs.
  • Demonstrated ability to indirectly lead and coordinate cross-functional efforts to advance company-wide policy objectives.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage in-house and external analytical teams and interpret results from interconnection and power flow analyses.
  • Exceptional communication and advocacy skills with experience representing organizations externally.
  • High degree of initiative and self-motivation, problem-solving creativity and ability to get things done well.
  • Experience working directly for RTOs/ISOs or transmission providers.
  • Established professional network within RTOs/ISOs and utility transmission stakeholders.
