About The Position

Otsuka Pharmaceutical Company is a global healthcare company dedicated to creating innovative products that enhance health worldwide. As the Director of Translational Medicine, you will embody Otsuka's culture and values while leading the design, execution, oversight, and reporting of First in Human (FIH), Translational Medicine (TM), and Proof of Concept (POC) studies. This role requires collaboration with various teams, including Discovery, Preclinical, Biomarker, Genomics, Bioanalytical, and Global Clinical Development, to ensure the scientific execution of early-phase trials and the development of biomarker plans. You will also be responsible for identifying and utilizing new biomarker and translational tools, technologies, and scientific capabilities to support Otsuka's pipeline. In this position, you will work closely with digital and diagnostics groups to support the development of biomarkers throughout the lifecycle of Otsuka's compounds. You will represent Translational Medicine at teams to evaluate discovery assets and ensure the incorporation of translational tools in early-phase programs. Your participation in the Early Development Team (EDT) or serving as chair of the Research and Development team (RDT) will be crucial in transitioning discovery compounds from preclinical stages to first-in-human and POC studies. You will provide medical oversight for ongoing studies and contribute to strategy and commercial teams for asset and indication mapping. As the Director of TM, you will engage in Key Opinion Leader (KOL) meetings, advisory boards, and academic and scientific groups to ensure the evaluation and incorporation of innovative translational and biomarker endpoints in early-phase programs. This position is based in Rockville, Maryland, or Princeton, New Jersey, and follows a hybrid work policy with an expected travel requirement of 20% based on business needs. Remote options will be considered for US candidates.
