About The Position

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital Springfield is seeking a Director of Therapy (DOT) for Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), or Speech and Language Pathology (SLP). This full-time position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with weekend call varying in rotation with managers. The Director of Therapy will be responsible for the direction and oversight of Therapy Services for the hospital, ensuring superior patient care that exceeds industry standards and patient expectations. The role involves managing the Therapy Services Department staff, coordinating operations, maintaining performance improvement activities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory laws and standards.

Requirements

  • Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech and Language Pathologist.
  • Minimum of three years of previous therapy management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate, and direct activities of clinical personnel.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English; additional languages preferred.
  • CPR Certified.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.
  • Proficiency in rehabilitation skills in discipline-specific areas of PT, OT, or SLP.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Therapy Services Department staff and support their professional development.
  • Coordinate and supervise operations of the therapy department.
  • Maintain performance improvement activities within the department.
  • Assist in formulating budgets and evaluate department performance versus budget.
  • Develop and implement a system for reviewing department charges and ensure timely entry of patient charges.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and hospital leadership to develop clinical programs.
  • Evaluate department performance against benchmarks and take appropriate actions.
  • Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
