We are seeking a dynamic Director of Software Engineering to lead our UHC GCO Claims engineering deliverables. This role is pivotal in driving enterprise-wide capability initiatives, as AI technologies advance. The successful candidate will build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, foster cross-functional relationships, and champion platform strategies that streamline operations and reduce redundancies. This is a people leader role, managing managers and guiding a global team, with a solid focus on change management and enterprise asset development. We are looking for someone exhibiting exceptional experience with: Architectural design Engineering best practices DevSecOps Performance engineering excellence You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a global full stack engineering team, including managers and technical leads
  • Build and foster an enterprise-focused team culture, driving collaboration and relationship-building across the organization
  • Develop and implement platform strategies to streamline solutions, reduce redundancies, and lower total cost of ownership
  • Drive adoption and support for enterprise assets, building coalitions across business units
  • Oversee the upskilling of teams from legacy AI to new AI technologies
  • Evaluate emerging trends in AI to support the Claims Preprocessing, ensuring robust agentic AI solution
  • Ensure application stability with exceptional quality, reliability engineering, and security controls
  • Manage change initiatives, including DCOM strategies, to elevate business-specific applications to enterprise-level solutions
  • Proven solid problem-solving and communication skills

  • Evaluate emerging trends to inform solution design and strategic innovation
  • 7+ years of experience leading software engineering solutions architecture for data intensive, scalable, high throughput platforms, and applications
  • 7+ years of experience with back-end technologies, such as Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Rest API Development
  • 3+ years of experience leading technology operations for large and complex high throughput application or a technology platform
  • 3+ years of experience with front-end web technologies, such as Angular, React, JavaScript, Typescript Node JS
  • 3+ years of experience with Full Stack Engineering Concepts (Front End Web Technologies & Back End Technologies) and hands-on on latest technologies
  • 3+ years of experience enabling DevOps maturity by driving CI/CD, automation, IaC and continuous monitoring in all the applications
  • Experience leading other managers and growing teams, including mentorship and workforce development
  • Ability to foster and build enterprise assets, driving adoption and coalition-building across the organization
  • Experience facilitating and leading architecture & delivery planning activities across geographically diverse and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience with formulating technology strategy, budget, and policies at multiple levels of an organization
  • Experience leading claims processing or related initiatives (Ex: Preprocessing, Adjudication)
  • Familiarity with AI advancements and upskilling teams from older AI foundations to new AI technologies
  • Solid relationship-building skills across enterprise organizations
  • Experience in platform strategy, streamlining, and reducing redundancies and total cost of ownership
