About The Position

The Director – Tax role is a hands-on position responsible for leading the tax compliance, reporting, and planning functions for the consolidated organization and subsidiaries. Key areas of responsibility and oversight include managing the direct/indirect tax processes (including income tax, sales/use tax, franchise tax, and property tax) to produce accurate and timely tax filings, provisions, and disclosures. Essential Functions: Design, implement, and continuously improve upon the business processes necessary to comply with local and federal tax requirements in all jurisdictions. Manage the income tax compliance function by preparing, reviewing, and filing the federal and state income tax returns accurately, timely, and in accordance with tax regulations. Coordinate the processes for estimated tax payments, extensions, and refund claims. Lead the income tax provision and other tax accounting responsibilities (e.g. FIN 48 reserve analysis). Prepare the tax footnote and tax-related disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Perform tax modeling and scenario planning on a quarterly basis to assist with forecasting and budgeting of tax accounting and payments. Oversee tax audits and lead the resolution of tax disputes. Provide strategic guidance and implement tax planning strategies to minimize the effective tax rate. Engage external tax advisors to identify, assess, and optimize tax positions. Research and apply technical accounting guidance. Partner with external auditors to facilitate the documentation for the annual audit. Implement and perform various internal controls to ensure a strong governance environment. Lead or participate in project teams to support and guide key activities, such as system implementations or new business initiatives. Partner closely with other Finance team members to drive team engagement, collaboration, talent development, and a culture of continuous improvement. Lead, manage, and develop team members. Requires designated hybrid in-office work schedule

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Business (Master’s degree in Tax is preferred)
  • Active CPA license required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience
  • Deep comprehension of direct/indirect tax regulations and related business processes
  • Working knowledge of tax planning strategies and concepts, including legal entity structures
  • Ability to prepare and review tax footnote disclosures with a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • Strong desire and ability to improve business processes related to tax compliance and planning
  • Acts like an owner – takes initiative and responsibility to provide timely and high-quality work and outcomes
  • Curiosity mindset (asks questions to learn how processes, people and technology work together)
  • Excellent analytical and project management skills
  • Professional and effective communication skills
