As a leader of the firm, the M&A Tax Director will demonstrate excellent project management skills, client service, and positive coaching to the team members in developing technical and professional competency.

Requirements

  • Proficient knowledge of corporate, partnership tax regulations and code sections, specifically around transactions and other transaction-related topics (Sec. 382, debt, transaction costs, etc.)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent required.
  • Professional Designation (CPA, EA, or JD/LLM) required. Any individual who does not possess at least one of the approved designations has one year from their date of hire to obtain at least one of the approved designations. CPA highly preferred.
  • 8+ years of relative accounting experience; federal tax and/or mergers and acquisitions in a public accounting firm, corporate tax departments, or law firm.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with U.S. GAAP (SEC 10-K/10Q, ASC 740, FIN 48) and related tax accounting guidance a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel skills.; tax software skills such as Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE or Corptax, a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Advise clients within private and publicly traded companies on corporate tax services including tax implications on business objectives, planning, researching, evaluating alternative actions, and other mergers and acquisitions activities.
  • Lead projects and assist clients on current issues including bankruptcy, emergence planning, out of court workouts, debt restructurings, tax basis, earning and profits, section 382 studies, and transaction cost analysis.
  • Support and collaborate with other team members of the M&A Tax practice by providing subject matter expertise on delivering due diligence and tax structuring services, as well as various technical tax issues including consolidating returns, S Corps, Partnerships, LLCs, and LLPs.
  • Identify more complex scope problems that may arise within the engagement, as well as opportunities for ancillary service offerings. Bring them to the attention of the engagement director.
  • Lead client calls to build and develop quality relationships with clients to ensure exceptional client service. Manage project status, develop project plans for accurate completion at the deliverable level.
  • Responsible for understanding engagement economics, leveraging the team appropriately, monitoring margin, scheduling, invoicing, etc. to meet time restraints and deadlines.
  • Leadership responsibilities include building in person connections with the team, peers and senior leaders in the Firm.
  • Participate in the performance process to provide feedback for team members. Identifying additional training or parts of engagements that are beneficial for team members education. Reaching out to Human Resources when potential issues arise.
  • Continue coaching the team to share knowledge in connection with the CPE committee to develop team members for the next level.
  • Assist a managed book of $1,500,000 in revenue.
  • Support Firm initiatives and development opportunities.
  • Work to build relationships and promote collaboration in a hybrid environment.
