Assurant is seeking a Director of Sustainability to join our Global Sustainability Team and help advance our vision for a Thriving Society, Circular Economy, and Stable Climate. This role will lead enterprise-wide sustainability programs, disclosures, and compliance initiatives across multiple countries and regions. Develop and execute an enterprise-wide sustainability disclosure roadmap to ensure compliance and enhance transparency. Integrate best practices and frameworks into disclosure processes, leveraging AI for efficiency and scalability. Oversee voluntary and mandatory sustainability disclosures (e.g., Sustainability Report, TCFD, SASB, CDP, EcoVadis, ISSB). Build trusted relationships with internal and external partners to advance decarbonization and circularity programs. Serve as a key contributor to the Sustainability Governance Committee and influence enterprise strategy. Lead materiality assessments, stakeholder engagement, and scenario analysis to inform sustainability strategy. Drive employee engagement and embed sustainability practices across the organization. Ensure compliance with emerging global sustainability regulations, including extended producer responsibility (EPR) and California Climate Disclosure rules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of advancing responsibility within Sustainability at a publicly held company, with familiarity of data analytics and reporting.
  • Demonstrated leadership in prior roles.
  • Proven experience managing enterprise sustainability reports and disclosures (TCFD, SASB, CDP, EcoVadis, CSRD, ISSB).
  • GHG emissions frameworks (GHG Protocol, PCAF) acumen.
  • Proficiency in sustainability reporting tools, data analytics software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience leveraging AI for data interpretation and efficiency.
  • Project management, and ability to influence across organizational levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related discipline.
  • Professional certifications (CSP, GRI Certification, etc.).
  • Experience in financial services and climate-related risk management.
  • Knowledge of Life Cycle Assessments (LCA).
