This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for someone who can help build a practice in one of the most important energy markets in the country. We are open to leaders coming from either a Survey background or an Engineering background, as long as they bring strong experience supporting oil and gas, pipeline, facilities, and broader hydrocarbon projects. The ideal person will be someone who can lead teams, grow client relationships, oversee project execution, and help expand Atwell’s footprint across West Texas. This role is well suited for a proven leader who wants to help shape strategy, build a team, and play a major role in the continued growth of our Hydrocarbons business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Surveying, or a related technical field preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive experience supporting oil and gas, hydrocarbon, pipeline, facilities, or energy infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated success in a leadership role involving team development, project oversight, and client relationship management
  • Strong understanding of hydrocarbon project execution, whether from a survey, engineering, or multidisciplinary operations background
  • Proven business development experience and the ability to grow client relationships in a competitive market
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities effectively
  • Familiarity with the Midland / West Texas market is strongly preferred
  • Professional licensure such as RPLS, PE, or similar is highly valued depending on background

Responsibilities

  • Help establish and lead Atwell’s Hydrocarbons presence in the Midland market
  • Build and grow a local practice supporting oil and gas, CO2, hydrogen, RNG, pipeline, and facilities projects
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of technical professionals across survey, engineering, design, and project delivery
  • Partner with executive leadership on growth strategy, staffing plans, and service expansion
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, and strong client service
  • Serve as a key client-facing leader for hydrocarbon-related pursuits in West Texas
  • Identify, develop, and win new business opportunities across upstream, midstream, and related energy infrastructure markets
  • Strengthen existing client relationships while building new partnerships with operators, developers, and industry stakeholders
  • Support proposals, presentations, pricing strategy, and contract negotiations
  • Represent Atwell in the market as a trusted partner and technical leader
  • Oversee successful delivery of projects, ensuring quality, schedule, budget, and client expectations are met
  • Support projects involving pipelines, compressor stations, meter stations, storage assets, facilities, and related field development infrastructure
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to drive efficient project execution
  • Support forecasting, utilization, staffing, and operational performance across the practice
  • Monitor project health, identify risks early, and implement solutions to keep projects moving successfully
  • Provide senior-level guidance on hydrocarbon project execution from either a survey or engineering perspective
  • Act as a bridge between technical teams, operations, and client stakeholders
  • Bring practical understanding of how field execution, technical design, and client needs come together on energy projects
  • Support quality control, technical review, and process improvement efforts
  • Help identify opportunities to improve service delivery and expand capabilities in the region
