About The Position

The Supply Chain Director at Waterbury Hospital is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the hospital's supply chain functions. This role focuses on optimizing procurement, distribution, and inventory management of medical supplies and services to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • AHRMM membership and CMRP certification (or completion within one year of hire).
  • Five years of experience in a hospital setting.
  • Three years in a management or supervisory capacity.
  • Two years of experience using ERP/MRP or inventory control software systems.
  • Previous experience with Oracle preferred.
  • Advanced analytical skills and thorough knowledge in financial analysis.
  • Knowledgeable in medical terminology and PC applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in interdisciplinary work group facilitation or quality management.
  • Knowledge of budget and reimbursement issues as they impact materials and services.
  • Working knowledge of GHX.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and define vision, mission, customer service, business plans, and quality improvement activities.
  • Work with senior management to drive supply chain efficiency throughout the organization.
  • Manage human resources by assessing, teaching staff, and promoting communication.
  • Achieve results in becoming a low-cost provider and enhancing competitive performance through budget management.
  • Oversee payroll and accounts payable relationships, including hiring, disciplinary actions, and evaluations.
  • Manage receiving and freight operations.
  • Create systems and analyze data to meet service needs and provide timely reporting.
  • Develop and monitor safety standards to provide a safe environment for staff.
  • Oversee procurement of supplies and services, ensuring compliance and effective contract utilization.
  • Optimize inventory management throughout the hospital, assisting clinical areas as needed.
  • Manage mail operations and logistics for the health delivery system.
  • Utilize technology to improve productivity and manage item master for data integrity.
  • Collaborate with GPO and regional networks to improve pricing and product quality.
  • Monitor trends in healthcare supply chain management for continuous improvement.
  • Set cost-saving goals in collaboration with executive leadership.
  • Build and lead a high-performing supply chain team, fostering accountability and innovation.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for the team.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to align supply chain with patient care needs.
  • Ensure timely inventory replenishment and respond to urgent requests.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulations and standards.
  • Analyze supply chain performance metrics for actionable insights.
