About The Position

Director of Supply Chain Accounting We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and highly analytical Director of Supply Chain Accounting to lead our enterprise-wide cost and inventory accounting function. The Director will oversee a team of 2–4 professionals and serve as the organization’s subject matter expert on cost accounting methodologies, standard costing, and inventory valuation. This role is critical to ensuring financial accuracy, operational insight, and scalable cost structures across a global public company with approximately $4 billion in annual sales. The Director will partner closely with Operations, Supply Chain, IT, and Finance leadership to drive cost transparency, influence decision making, and strengthen internal controls. Requirements

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (CPA preferred)
  • Experience Requirements: 8–10 years experience in relevant field
  • Travel requirement: No travel requirements
  • Supervisor Responsibility Direct Reports: Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources Indirect Reports: May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports
  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in an equivalent accounting role, preferably within a public company environment
  • Prior leadership experience managing teams and influencing cross functional stakeholders
  • Proficiency with enterprise resource planning systems and financial close management software preferred, with advanced proficiency in spreadsheet and productivity tools required
  • Deep experience in standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
  • Office / Sedentary Requirements: Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically, requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may require the ability to lift up to 10lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the company’s cost accounting function, including the development, implementation, and governance of standardized costing methodologies across all business units
  • Lead the design and enhancement of standard costing systems within the enterprise resource planning platform, ensuring accurate cost flows, robust documentation, and alignment with industry best practices
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to inventory and cost accounting, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, journal entries, disclosures, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting standards
  • Direct the preparation and review of comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations, inventory valuations, and cost related analyses, proactively identifying risks, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities
  • Drive enterprise level variance analysis, including labor efficiency, overhead absorption, material deviations, and margin trends, providing actionable insights to senior leadership
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, IT, and Finance to influence cost related decisions, improve cost visibility, and ensure accurate cost flows across systems and processes
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls related to inventory and cost accounting, ensuring SOX compliance and audit readiness
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost accuracy, scalability, automation, and real time reporting capabilities, including troubleshooting and validating system functionality
  • Serve as the organization’s cost accounting subject matter expert, providing guidance, training, and leadership across teams
  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation through participation in physical counts, analysis of spoilage, and maintenance of reliable inventory records
  • Maintain contract knowledge to support accurate pricing, billing, and compliance
  • Support accurate costing and financial reporting through understanding of logistics and fulfillment processes and review of material master data and standard costs
