The Director of NPI Supplier Engineering leads the strategy and execution for supplier readiness across Insulet's next-generation product launches. You'll partner with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and PMO teams to translate early-stage designs into scalable, cost-effective manufacturing solutions. Reporting to both the VP of Supplier Development Engineering and NPI program leadership, you'll ensure suppliers meet rigorous quality, timeline, and budgetary targets from pilot assembly through full-scale production.

  • Define and drive the supplier engineering strategy for NPI programs, aligning milestones to product launch and manufacturing scale-up
  • Lead supplier validation activities, including component qualification, tooling deployment, and process capability assessments
  • Collaborate with R&D to optimize pilot line performance, validate designs for manufacturability, and ensure seamless technology transfer
  • Champion DFM/DFA initiatives by engaging suppliers early to refine component designs and improve production efficiency
  • Develop and implement supplier improvements programs to accelerate early NPI phases, enhance predictability, and safeguard long-term reliability
  • Build and manage a high-performing team of supplier engineers focused on technical leadership, tooling development, and strategic supplier partnerships
  • Guide supplier selection through technical capability assessments, risk evaluations, and cost-benefit analyses
  • Work closely with equipment vendors and suppliers on custom tooling, fixtures, and semi-automated process solutions
  • Ensure all supplier activities comply with FDA regulations, ISO 13485, GMP, and internal quality standards
  • BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering with 12+ years of experience in supplier engineering or manufacturing in a regulated industry
  • MS in Engineering or Engineering Management with 10+ years of relevant experience preferred
  • Deep expertise in supplier process development, component validation, and tooling qualification
  • Demonstrated success leading supplier engineering for complex NPI projects in regulated industries
  • In-depth understanding of sourcing and validating molded components, stamped metals, springs, and micro-mechanisms
  • Strong project management skills with experience in supplier audits, technical capability assessments, and capital tooling deployment
  • Experience with Class II medical devices and global supplier networks is highly desirable
  • Base salary range of $167,850.00 - $251,775.00
  • Travel up to 25%, including international travel to suppliers and manufacturing sites
