About The Position

The Director of Summer Bridge Programs at Stanford University is responsible for designing and leading two key programs aimed at enhancing educational access and success for underrepresented students. This role involves overseeing the Pre-orientation Program (POP) and the Stanford Summer Fellows Program (SSFP), which are part of the Leveling the Learning Landscape (L3) initiative. The Director will collaborate with faculty and various university departments to ensure these programs meet their educational goals and provide necessary support for first-generation and low-income students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Excellent program administration skills.
  • Understanding of college-level curriculum development and delivery; teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong focus on academic success and experience with first-generation or low-income students preferred.
  • Advanced communication skills for effective information dissemination.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of financial transactions and budget management preferred.
  • Experience overseeing and directing staff.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Design, launch, and oversee all aspects of the Pre-orientation Program (POP) and Stanford Summer Fellows Program (SSFP).
  • Develop student selection criteria and manage outreach, application, and selection processes.
  • Collaborate with faculty and departments to support curricular components and provide academic coaching.
  • Lead the design and implementation of academic year programs to support participants.
  • Partner with various units to develop community building and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Ensure access to academic advising services for students on various issues.
  • Partner with assessment professionals for program evaluation and improvement.
  • Supervise full-time and seasonal staff, resolving complex programmatic and student issues.
  • Develop and monitor program budgets and expenses.
  • Prepare presentations and reports for stakeholders.
