Wheeling University is seeking a Director of Student Success. The Director is responsible for the supervision and management of the everyday operations of the Learning Center which houses a tutoring/computer usage area, adaptive technology lab, and testing center. The successful candidate must be committed to the academic and athletic success of the student-athlete and be able to support and promote the University’s mission.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in the areas of Education, Counseling, or core academic area
  • Three years of progressively responsible professional experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with other departments and coaches.
  • Responsible for the development of learning support programs and operations associated with student academic preparation and remediation of identified skills.
  • Oversee administration of placement and exit testing, including scheduling, purchasing, scoring, and reporting.
  • Design and organize tutor training content and delivery methods in accordance with the guidelines set by the College Reading Learning Association (CRLA) and National Association of Developmental Education (NADE).
  • Coordinate instruction and delivery of tutoring and learning support services.
  • Develop and monitor department budget and purchases.
  • Maintain records and reports for certification and assessment purposes.
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Support faculty and staff in access concerns/issues for the students in cooperation with the provisions of ADA; oversee adaptive education operations.
  • Supervise and guide students who are part of the Federal Work Study Program and Graduate Assistantship Program.
