We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to drive business opportunities through comprehensive market and brand analysis. As the Director of Strategy & Innovation, you will lead a team of experts in assessing the current environment of the Brand and marketplace, identifying new business opportunities, and collaborating closely with internal business partners. This role will be key in initiating and developing strategic recommendations for the Brand banner, aligning with the senior leadership team to define the organization’s long-term strategic objectives and solutions. You will be responsible for creating business cases, securing cross-functional support, and ensuring the financial resources required to execute initiatives are in place. Additionally, you will develop, implement, and continuously refine innovative strategies that align corporate business objectives with retail goals to enhance overall brand strategy.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of experience, ideally including management consulting and experience working with research.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, business analysis, and working across multiple business functions.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Deep knowledge of business and market analysis, including the ability to create predictive models and assess macro-economic factors.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex strategies to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and leading initiatives to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation of a sustainable strategic planning process that aligns all business plans with the Brand strategy.
  • Develop key strategic documents to communicate critical initiatives and business platforms across all levels of the organization, including Brand Senior Leadership, Ahold Delhaize Senior Leadership, and the Ahold Delhaize Management Board.
  • Provide direction and strategic focus across the banner, building consensus to grow company sales profitably and achieve desired growth objectives.
  • Research and integrate new analytical concepts, tools, and technologies to enhance the visibility and value of business information.
  • Act as the primary contact for leveraging Business Intelligence (BI) and shared service functional areas.
  • Develop and lead the creation of predictive analytics models and brand structures to evaluate and formulate strategic recommendations for leadership discussions and decision-making.
  • Build and apply macro-economic models to assess the broader market and economic conditions, including national, regional, and global economies.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with Brand Leadership, Retail Business Services, and Senior Leaders across the organization.
  • Synthesize business information from across the Brand’s operating areas, industry, and marketplace to identify key challenges, opportunities, and strategic dilemmas.
  • Develop strategic insights based on consumer research, market trends, environmental factors, and operational data, and deliver these insights to leadership teams.
  • Foster strong partnerships with leadership teams to provide guidance on strategic business decisions and inform both Shared Service and Brand Leadership of key initiatives.
  • Develop strategies for growth and market expansion, focusing on both existing and new geographies.
  • Guide the Brand leadership team in identifying and prioritizing annual goals, including financial and strategic implications.
  • Ensure transparency in the timing, complexity, and resource allocation of planned initiatives.
  • Regularly facilitate leadership discussions to review the progress and updates to the strategic plans.
  • Provide strategic guidance and share best practices to drive sales and maximize profitability.
  • Lead the facilitation of new store designs that effectively display the brand and business model.
  • Align with the Brand leadership team on design concepts, guiding decisions on space allocation to optimize sales and profitability.
  • Collaborate with Brand shared services to select design firms and manage communication between the banner and shared services, ensuring timely and on-budget completion of designs.
  • Provide financial assumptions and collaborate with the investment analysis team to develop proformas and breakeven assumptions for new store prototypes.
  • Oversee future updates and changes to the prototype design, ensuring consistency across the network.
