About The Position

The Director, Marketing Strategic Sourcing, is a transformative enterprise leader who partners directly with EVPs, SVPs, and C-suite executives to shape the future of how PayPal invests in, manages, and innovates across its global marketing ecosystem. As a global people manager, the Director leads a medium-sized, geographically dispersed team, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and high performance. This leader also plays a major leadership role in the total transformation of Global Sourcing and Procurement at PayPal, driving modernization, strategic alignment, and enterprise value. This role leads the development of breakthrough category strategies that drive brand growth, operational efficiency, and strategic supplier partnerships-combining deep sourcing expertise, market fluency, and executive influence to elevate marketing's strategic and financial impact across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • 10+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Progressive experience in Marketing Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, or Agency Management, with proven success influencing VP+ level leaders in Marketing, Brand, and Finance.
  • Deep expertise across Creative, Media, Digital, Martech, Research, Advertising, Sponsorships, and Production categories.
  • Market-connected leader with strong, direct relationships across major marketing platforms and agency networks - including all major marketing agencies.
  • Proven success leading category strategy design, sourcing transformations, and operating model modernization at enterprise scale.

  • Experience in global organizations and proficiency with Category Management, Ariba, and BI tools.

Be the leader who is on speed dial with executives at all major marketing agencies, and other key marketing ecosystem partners, bringing early insight into emerging media trends, pricing shifts, and innovation opportunities.
  • Category Strategy & Transformation - Architect and deliver visionary category strategies across Creative, Media, Sponsorships, Martech, Research, and Production. Drive cross-functional alignment between business stakeholders and sourcing teams to deliver scalable, future-forward marketing partnerships that unlock innovation, cost advantage, and speed to market.
  • Supplier & Ecosystem Leadership - Build deep, strategic relationships with top-tier agencies, platforms, and marketing service providers. Shape partner strategies and performance frameworks that ensure accountability, transparency, and innovation. Leverage executive relationships to co-create next-generation marketing models and value frameworks.
  • Global Impact & Organizational Excellence - Lead a global sourcing organization that partners seamlessly with marketing and finance leaders across all regions. Drive operational excellence, consistency, and governance while enabling speed, flexibility, and creativity in sourcing decisions.
  • Team Leadership & Development - Inspire, coach, and develop sourcing talent into strategic business partners. Cultivate a high-performance culture defined by insight, influence, and impact. Champion best-in-class sourcing methodologies and elevate the marketing procurement brand across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the organization's sourcing strategy, ensuring it aligns with business objectives and delivers value.
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms, cost savings, and quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define material, quality, and service requirements and ensure alignment with sourcing strategies.
  • Develop and use scorecards to measure and evaluate supplier performance, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of sourcing operations.
  • Explore and evaluate new sources, methods, and vendors to ensure a reliable supply of materials.
