About The Position

The Strategic Planning & Assurance Lead, reporting to the Contract Strategy Implementation (“CSI”) Leader, manages a team focused on operational excellence in managed care contracting risk management, workforce planning, process improvement, and technological advancements. This role ensures compliance, oversees audits, supports contract management for commercial access customers, and drives thought leadership in contracting risk, workforce planning, design thinking, business analysis, and technology, including AI. As a department Leadership Team member, they help guide and shape the department with their peers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, managed health care, legal disciplines, or related field.
  • 8+ years of cross-functional experience in market access, account management, contract negotiations, strategic operations, or related fields within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • 4+ years of people management experience.
  • 3+ years of specific experience effectively leading cross-functional strategy development and/or operations teams.
  • Strong strategic orientation, expert grasp of industry issues and trends, understanding of customer segments, Genentech's business model and access needs, and knowledge of government guidelines and regulatory policies affecting contracting.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or other related Graduate-level degree (e.g., JD or PhD).
  • Experience in other key functions/groups such as customer-facing roles, 340B, revenue management, business analytics, information technology, etc.
  • Prior experience working with external customers to create value and tell compelling stories.

Responsibilities

  • Develops revenue protection tools and analytics, leading a team to maintain systems and ensure compliance.
  • Drives strategic workforce planning (internal and external resources) and continuous improvement in contract strategy implementation.
  • Builds cross-functional relationships with internal departments and field teams.
  • Develops and implements strategic workforce planning based on future business needs and learning for the CSI team.
  • Creates compliant contract implementation systems and roadmaps, while also managing risk and overseeing audits.
  • Advances core contracting skills/capabilities, operational excellence, and technology.
  • Educates leaders on applicable laws, regulations, and standards and influences their decision-making.
  • Drives cross-functional operations for contract strategy implementation compliance and audits.
  • Oversees internal risk monitoring, external audits and addresses external changes impacting commercial contract strategies.
  • Applies analytical skills to achieve financial targets and proactively identifies new opportunities.
  • Influences senior leaders and maintains departmental infrastructure, including succession planning.
  • Coaches team members, and provides forward-looking recommendations for improvements in risk management, processes, and technology.
