About The Position

Discover is seeking a Director of Strategic Client Management to lead a dynamic team dedicated to providing superior client engagement and relationship management support to Discover's most Strategic Retailers and Tech Partnerships in the US, with a global presence. This leader will be responsible for setting a strategic direction for the team, ensuring alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives. This includes developing long-term plans and strategies to enhance participant engagement and drive growth. The role also involves creating a culture of effective risk management, accountability, and demonstration of risk awareness across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management.
  • 10+ years of experience in Payment, account management, strategic client management or related fields.
  • In lieu of education, 12+ years of experience in Payment, account management, strategic client management or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Relationship Management subject matter experts, leveraging knowledge of partners, industry trends, and competitive environment.
  • Set a strategic direction for the team, ensuring alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Develop long-term plans and strategies to enhance participant engagement and drive growth.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy, focusing on managing Strategic Retailers and Tech Partnerships on Discover Network.
  • Identify new opportunities, negotiate partnerships, and ensure successful implementation of key initiatives while maintaining acceptance across our three network brands (DCI/PULSE and Discover Network).
  • Act as a senior-level ambassador and point of escalation, driving goals that support company initiatives mutually beneficial to Discover and the merchants.
  • Stay informed and share market trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory changes in the US payments industry that affect our most strategic partners.
  • Develop innovative products, create effective marketing strategies, and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Work closely with various departments, including marketing, IT, and customer service, to ensure seamless execution of initiatives and alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the business is achieving its financial targets.
  • Influence and interface with Senior Payments leadership, presenting strategic initiatives, gaining buy-in, and driving execution across the organization.
