Conducts ongoing review of Regional Sterile Processing policies, procedures, and guidelines; implements revisions as necessary. Continually assesses all services, identifies problems, utilizes data to analyze and propose innovative approaches for solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent years of experience and education
  • Seven years' experience, with five years in direct people management/leadership
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching and gripping.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Rare crawling, sitting and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) - The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)

Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages operational initiatives with measurable outcomes.
  • Prepares and delivers reports to operational leadership outlining progress toward meeting annual goals and objectives, to include performance related to finance, clinical activity, quality, and safety.
  • Develops and implements clinical outcome measures for quality improvement, cost and complication reduction, and the implementation of evidence-based medicine.
  • Incorporates the use of evidence-based practice and appreciative enquiry into program development and improvement activities.
  • Provide Regional oversight for Sterile Processing standard work, processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Responsible for coordination of Regional Sterile Processing leaders.
  • Assesses manager and staff development needs, identifies goals and provides resources.
  • Accountable for departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, vendor relations, and quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities throughout the health system.
  • Directs and provides guidance to managers to effectively allocate resources based on patient volume, space availability, budget constraints, and program priorities, goals, and objectives.
  • Maintain records related to operations and services that are complete, accurate, available, and in compliance with all legal, regulatory, and policy requirements.
  • Works collaboratively with regional leadership, Peri-Op management, surgeons, Infection Prevention and Control, facilities, biomed, and other appropriate leadership, and committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
