The Director of Sourcing and Contracting leads the Supply Chain business strategy development and implementation for their assigned categories and is responsible for driving total cost optimization projects. This position plays a critical role in driving cost leadership across the system by fostering cross-functional collaboration, standardizing processes, and leveraging consolidated logistics and operational efficiencies-all while upholding the highest standards of care. The incumbent serves as the primary contact for Aultman procurement and collaborates closely with supply chain stakeholders and Aultman leadership to advance strategic goals. This role also supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives of the Aultman Health Foundation (AHF) and the Aultman Healthcare Delivery System, demonstrating a strong commitment to quality service for patients, physicians, the public, and fellow team members. The Director of Sourcing and Contracting for Aultman Health Foundation (AHF) is responsible for sourcing, contracting, pricing, availability, supplier performance, and overall business level supplier management of clinical and non-clinical products and services categories across the Aultman Health System. Total oversight of contractual expenditures for products and services is more than $500 million annually. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Supply Chain Services and is fully accountable for the performance and strategic alignment of the Sourcing and Contracting function. The Director of Sourcing and Contracting serves as the system-wide business leader for assigned supply chain categories, overseeing sourcing and contracting activities from strategy through execution.

  • Keeps the Vice President informed and actively seeks input on key sourcing initiatives, contract strategies, and departmental matters.
  • Leads by example, fostering a culture of integrity, collaboration, and excellence aligned with the Aultman Health Foundation (AHF) mission and values.
  • Leads the full sourcing lifecycle for assigned categories-including spend analysis, supplier selection, contract negotiation, implementation, and ongoing management of pricing and terms.
  • Negotiates complex agreements, owning all business, financial, and commercial terms, with a strong focus on value optimization and risk mitigation.
  • Functions as the primary Supply Chain liaison to assigned service line leadership teams across the Foundation, ensuring alignment on goals, performance expectations, and sourcing strategies.
  • Provides advanced analytics, market intelligence, and strategic decision support to drive value, transparency, and measurable cost savings.
  • Drives total cost of ownership optimization through standardization, quality assurance, and process simplification-while maintaining or enhancing standards of care.
  • Leads the development and execution of a robust supplier performance management program for assigned categories.
  • Maintains deep category expertise and market insight to serve as a thought leader on supplier capabilities, cost trends, and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborates in the development and continuous improvement of sourcing tools, systems, and cost management frameworks.
  • Maintains proactive communication and collaboration with clinicians, physicians, leadership, and operational stakeholders to support cost-effective, high-quality service delivery.
  • Oversees Program/Category Managers and Analysts, setting clear performance goals and expectations, and supporting ongoing development and team engagement.
  • Maintains the integrity and effectiveness of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (Lawson/Infor) as it relates to sourcing and contracting functions.
  • Promotes the recruitment, retention, and professional growth of qualified sourcing and contracting staff.
  • Delegates responsibilities appropriately to ensure department efficiency while supporting employee development and accountability.
  • Develops and implements organization-wide sourcing and contracting policies and procedures that reflect AHS's strategic vision and commitment to high-value care delivery.
  • Manages and approves capital and operating budgets for the Sourcing and Contracting department, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Supports the development of the annual Supply Chain Strategic Plan and contributes to broader supply chain initiatives and enterprise planning sessions.
  • Facilitates the acquisition, utilization, and standardization of clinically approved supplies and technologies that contribute to affordable, high-quality patient care.
  • Actively participates in the organization's Value Analysis Teams and the New Supply Approval Council.
  • Directs quarterly audits (this occurs monthly for purchasing) of Sourcing and Contracting policy and procedure compliance, ensuring departmental accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Acts as the primary liaison to the Independent Hospital Network Supply Chain Group, fostering collaborative contracting strategies and maximizing value across affiliate organizations.
  • Pursues ongoing professional development through relevant seminars, workshops, and affiliations-and provides similar opportunities for team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support organizational needs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in healthcare supply chain management with demonstrated success in leading the development, implementation, and oversight of end-to-end supply chain operations.
  • Experience working with electronic procurement, ERP, and contract lifecycle management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with physicians, clinical staff, and internal stakeholders across the organization.
  • Proven leadership capabilities with a focus on aligning team performance with organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret, synthesize, and communicate complex quantitative and qualitative data to operational leaders and executive stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, results-oriented mindset with the ability to think strategically.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrates the ability to build and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Possesses advanced negotiation skills and deep knowledge of healthcare sourcing and contracting protocols and best practices.
