About The Position

Director of Architecture & Integrations Services Serve as a key member of the IT Leadership Team, directing and managing enterprise solution architecture and integration services to enable modern, high performing technology solutions across the organization. This role establishes architecture direction, drives integration and Master Data Management strategy, and leads people and processes to ensure solutions align with business objectives and the company’s IT vision. The Director builds strong business and technical partnerships and champions best practices in enterprise architecture, integration, and data management to enable seamless, scalable digital capabilities for clients, agents, and employees. What You’ll Do: The Director of Architecture & Integration Services ensures IT systems are designed and integrated in a secure, scalable manner, aligned with business objectives. By establishing architectural frameworks and enterprise integration standards, this role enables seamless data and process flow across the organization and supports delivery of modern digital solutions for clients, agents, and employees. This leader partners closely with IT and business executives to align technology initiatives with strategic plans and operational priorities. The role includes communicating enterprise architecture vision and roadmaps to stakeholders at all levels, making timely decisions to address technical issues that may impact business outcomes, and ensuring the technology ecosystem supports both current operations and future growth. The Director also engages with vendors and monitors emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation across architecture and integration capabilities.

Requirements

  • College degree in Computer Science or software engineering preferred, or equivalent experience, plus 10 years of progressive relevant experience required.
  • Ten or more years of experience executing technology strategies, including enterprise architecture, security, network management, application development, and integration platforms such as microservices and API frameworks.
  • Experience across on premise, SaaS, and cloud-based environments.
  • Eight or more years of people leadership experience building, managing, and developing high performing teams required.
  • Strong business acumen with understanding of business operations, industry practices, and emerging trends.
  • Knowledge of future trends in the IT industry and the insurance and financial services industry.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technology solutions and understand their interrelationships.
  • Proven experience collaborating with stakeholders, influencing decisions, and managing work to achieve outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills with deep technical systems knowledge and problem-solving ability.
  • Experience leading teams using agile principles and development methodologies.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a strong understanding of all entities of the FBL Financial Group.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, vision, and oversight to establish and support development of enterprise architectures aligned with architectural principles and guardrails, ensuring solutions are modern, reliable, flexible, and scalable while balancing short- and long-term goals.
  • Define and lead application and system integration goals and objectives, ensuring application programming interfaces enable a seamless digital experience for client members, agents, and employees.
  • Partner with delivery leaders to design, develop, and maintain high quality integrations connecting data, applications, and third parties in support of business processes, customer needs, and architectural direction. Accountable for monitoring and improving integration performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with business partners and IT teams to evaluate requests for new systems, applications, product standards, and services, translating business drivers and capabilities into enterprise solution designs, integrations, and an architectural runway that supports the full product lifecycle.
  • Establish, document, and enforce principles, guidelines, standards, best practices, and patterns to ensure solution decisions and integrations align with the enterprise future state architecture and optimize efficiency and reuse.
  • Communicate architecture vision and roadmaps clearly and consistently and make informed decisions to resolve technical issues that could impact delivery or business outcomes.
  • Engage with vendors and remain current on emerging technologies and industry trends to inform architectural direction and drive innovation.
