The Diagnostic Solutions business is a global leader in microbiology with a portfolio of innovative diagnostic solutions. We are seeking a visionary and experienced Director of Software Test to lead our global software testing organization. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of software that powers our laboratory instruments and our enterprise informatics platform. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and a passion for quality. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive software testing strategy that incorporates agile best practices, enterprise-level tools, and effective test coverage across our entire product ecosystem. This includes software embedded in our instruments, as well as our integrated informatics platform that manages laboratory workflows, data analytics, and integration with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).

  • Develop and lead the execution of strategic software testing priorities that align with our product roadmap and business objectives.
  • Drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle.
  • Define and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive test strategy that covers all aspects of our software, including embedded software for our laboratory instruments and our enterprise informatics platform.
  • Champion and implement agile testing best practices, including enabling effective continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD), and automated testing.
  • Drive the development and adoption of a robust and scalable test automation framework.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track testing progress, quality trends, and team performance.
  • Provide regular reports to senior leadership on the status of software quality.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software development, product management, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs.
  • Ensure that all software testing activities are conducted in compliance with relevant regulatory standards.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate testing tools and infrastructure to support our testing strategy.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of software test engineers and managers across multiple geographic locations.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing a software test or QA team.
  • Proven experience in a regulated industry, preferably medical device, in-vitro diagnostics (IVD), or a related healthcare field.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing a comprehensive software test strategy for a complex product ecosystem.
  • Extensive experience with agile development methodologies and implementing agile testing practices.
  • Strong background in test automation, including the development and implementation of automation frameworks and strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Expertise in various types of testing, including functional, non-functional, and integration testing.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for software in medical devices (e.g., FDA QSR, ISO 13485).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Experience with test management and automation tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Selenium, Appium).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and principles.
