About The Position

Morgan Stanley Services Group, Inc. is seeking a Director, Software Product Management & Reliability Engineer in New York, New York to Exercise command and control over service and trading impacting outages. Work with our Business Unit and Risk partners to facilitate the fastest path to resolution. Analyze the performance and function of trade capture and risk management systems using logs, databases. Work with the business unit to optimize these systems and reduce the chances of suboptimal behavior. Work closely with the development teams and Engineering to either develop or provide specifications for tools to improve monitoring, increase the stability of the plant, and automate manual tasks. Mentor new members of the team and bring them up to speed on daily operations aiding in their career growth and progression. Ensure that the trading plant is operating in an optimal manner through observability by reacting to a variety of alerts and daily Ready for Business checks. Write scripts in Python to analyze trades, automate daily tasks, and improve tooling. Participate in the selection of the next generation of talent for technology at the Firm by interviewing prospective candidates and partaking in other recruitment activities sponsored by HR Talent Management. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Requires five (5) years of experience in the position offered or five (5) years as an Associate Reliability Production Engineer, IT Consultant or a related role.
  • Requires five (5) years of experience with the following skills: Equity and fixed income products, including derivatives; US Equity Market Structure; Linux System Administration; Python; KDB; SQL; Agile and Agile framework; Public Cloud and Cloud Computing Principles including AWS and Azure; Data Analytics and Visualization; Splunk; and C++ or Java.
