The Software Engineering Manager - Food North America, will provide thought leadership, strategic direction, deep technical expertise and broad connectivity and oversight across a variety of engineering areas to continue maturing the practice and skills to build the foundation for modern engineering practices for Cargill's Digital Technology and Data organization and within our Food North America team. In this role, you will lead the team empowered to develop and drive processes, tools and standards that support our transformation to product, build cross team relationships both with our business and technology teams and collaborate across the entire engineering community to drive an effective and authentic engineering culture and maximize the effectiveness of the engineering capabilities.

Requirements

Minimum requirement of 6 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 10 years or more of relevant experience.
Proven track record of managing engineering teams and delivering large-scale, high-performance solutions
Experience with software development, software delivery lifecycle, application modernization, DevOps, Service/Infrastructure as Service and Operations
Technical experience with technologies including cloud, software development and continuous integration, and continuous delivery

Nice To Haves

3 years of people leadership experience
Experience with engineering teams which support process automation or leverages AI agents
Experience with engineering teams servicing commercial or sales capabilities
Provide leadership to grow team capabilities, drive team goals and prioritize team resources in alignment with business requirements.
Confirmed hands on technical experience with technologies including cloud, software development and continuous integration, and continuous delivery
Understanding of CI/CD toolchain products like Jira or Git
Influence the engineering community to ensure teams constantly learn and apply new trends and technology to handle business problems.
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced product environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions

Responsibilities

Provide strategic direction, technical leadership and influence in the development and adoption of SDLC processes and infrastructure as code practices for multiple engineering teams across the Food NA DT&D organization to further maturing engineering practices.
Set the strategy and framework that will drive the DT&D transformation to a product model, including establishing product model operating guardrails, Product/Agile coaching practices, product toolkits and identifying cultural changes needed for success.
Develop strategic relationships with the engineering community and foster innovative technical trends, modern skills and promote software engineering best practices.
Provide strategic leadership, development and talent management activities for direct reports and their organizations, which include forecasting resource needs, recruiting, hiring, performance management, training and budgeting. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.
