Pulmovant is seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Head of IT, focused on R&D Information Systems (IS) to define, modernize, and operate our full R&D technology ecosystem. This leader will shape the future-state IS landscape as Pulmovant transitions from the Roivant platform to an independent operating model, ensuring that all R&D systems, data flows, and supporting infrastructure are scalable, secure, compliant, and fit for a high-growth biotech. Beyond R&D systems leadership, this role will also serve as a critical liaison between Pulmovant and Roivant IT, helping coordinate key IT infrastructure services, including IT operational support, help desk support, onboarding/offboarding workflows, equipment provisioning, and broader enterprise IT alignment. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision, enterprise IS expertise, and operational discipline, with the ability to lead high-impact initiatives while maintaining close partnerships across IT, R&D, and Roivant.

  • Develop multi-year IS and infrastructure roadmaps that align R&D and enterprise technology capabilities with Pulmovant’s evolving scientific and business objectives.
  • Define and execute the R&D IS strategy as Pulmovant transitions away from Roivant, ensuring continuity, compliance, and scalability.
  • Advise executive leadership on modernization, emerging technology trends, AI/automation opportunities, and long-term digital strategy.
  • R&D Systems Ownership & Digital Enablement
  • Own the lifecycle of core R&D systems (e.g., SDMS, CTMS, eTMF, QMS, PV/Safety, Veeva Vault, SAS/biostats platforms).
  • Lead feasibility studies, vendor evaluations, and cost-benefit analyses for all R&D IS investments.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of system integrations supporting data flow, analytics, and operational excellence.
  • Drive adoption of AI, automation, and analytics to improve R&D efficiency, quality, and insight generation.
  • Cross-Functional & Infrastructure Collaboration
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Pulmovant and Roivant IT during the transition period, ensuring coordinated delivery of infrastructure and enterprise services.
  • Coordinate with Roivant end-user IT support, including help desk service, escalation management, and service-level expectations.
  • Oversee and coordinate employee onboarding/offboarding workflows, including account provisioning, access management, equipment requests, and IT orientation.
  • Ensure timely and efficient management of endpoint devices, licenses, collaboration tools, identity/access management, and enterprise applications used by R&D.
  • Work with Roivant IT to ensure Pulmovant’s infrastructure (network, security, collaboration platforms, identity management) meets operational, compliance, and scalability needs.
  • Develop plans to transition relevant infrastructure services from Roivant to Pulmovant as applicable.
  • Operational Excellence, Security & Compliance
  • Establish and enhance processes for IT demand management, resource allocation, project delivery, vendor management, and service operations.
  • Partner with Quality to ensure strong CSV/CSA practices and maintain full GxP compliance across the R&D IS ecosystem.
  • Ensure compliance with 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, GDPR/HIPAA, cybersecurity standards, and Pulmovant’s security policies.
  • Advise on IT policies, SOPs, system management standards, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement of operational reliability, system performance, and user experience.
  • Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead and grow a team of IS professionals, contractors, and managed service providers.
  • Manage multi-vendor relationships, ensuring high-quality service delivery, clear accountability, and value realization.
  • Communicate system strategies, technology needs, and project updates clearly to executive leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 8–10+ years of progressive IT or IT consulting experience, with 5+ years supporting R&D in life sciences or a related high-tech, regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of R&D system landscapes, including SDMS, CTMS, eTMF, QMS, PV systems, and Veeva Vault.
  • Proven success designing and implementing digital transformation strategies, cloud-based solutions, and modern enterprise architectures.
  • Familiarity with GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA/GDPR, and regulated IT best practices.
  • Experience in enterprise architecture, data integration, information security, and system interoperability.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-site or multi-vendor IT projects in regulated environments.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills, with executive-level presence.
  • Experience coordinating IT infrastructure support, help desk operations, onboarding/offboarding, or device management is a strong plus.
