Plans and directs the personal, financial and operational activities for security operations system wide; maintains 24 hour accountability for operations across the region. In collaboration with the site manager for security, directs and supervises security personnel, monitors quality and quantity of work flow, initiates or recommends personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, completes performance appraisals. Provides leadership to the law enforcement and security team and promotes a proactive loss prevention focus. Oversees, develops, and approves system wide policies and procedures for Security Management programs and security systems. Drafts policy provisions and provides interpretation of function for department policies. In collaboration with market and site, identifies the need for and defines procedures/protocols and modifies as necessary to obtain goals and objectives to provide symmetry across the system. Develops short to long range goals in regard to Security Management programs and oversees the assessment of goal attainment and insures site management follows appropriately. Assists site management and COO in developing and monitoring budget for the security department. Provides strategic system wide leadership for planning and directing the personnel, financial and operational activities Security programs. . Serves as liaison between Security Department and other departments and outside agencies in ensuring safety of patients, visitors and employees, physical facilities and the prevention of material loss. Oversees the development of functional processes for system wide Security Programs and security systems. Provides system wide liaison and coordination with hospital safety and emergency management committees relative to the provision of security services. In collaboration with site COO's, provides an overall audit and assessment of physical security needs for the respective campus. Functions as a project manager when necessary for the installation of physical security systems on the respective campus. Audits line security operations to ensure consistency in the application of patrol strategies and service initiatives. Ensures that individual hospital security management is taking effective investigative action on reports filed with their security staff. Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements and DMC policies. As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
