About The Position

The Director of SEC Reporting is a senior finance leader responsible for the integrity, transparency, and timeliness of the Company’s external financial reporting and regulatory disclosures. This role owns the end-to-end SEC reporting process and serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements while continuously elevating disclosure quality and governance practices. Operating at the intersection of Corporate Accounting, Legal, Investor Relations, and executive management, the Director of SEC Reporting ensures that the Company’s public filings and external financial communications are accurate, consistent, and aligned with the Company’s strategic narrative. This leader brings deep technical expertise, strong judgment, and a forward-looking perspective on digital reporting, risk management, and emerging disclosure expectations, including ESG-related considerations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in SEC reporting, technical accounting, or financial reporting roles within publicly traded companies and/or Big 4 or national public accounting firms.
  • Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, SOX, ICFR, and disclosure controls and procedures.
  • Extensive hands-on experience leading 10-K, 10-Q, proxy statement, and earnings release processes.
  • Proven experience working with SEC reporting platforms such as Workiva.
  • Strong judgment and ability to interpret and apply complex accounting and disclosure guidance.
  • Executive-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex financial information.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tight deadlines, multiple priorities, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience interacting with external auditors, legal counsel, and senior leadership, including Audit Committees and Boards.
  • Leadership experience with a track record of developing high-performing finance professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation, review, and timely filing of all SEC reports and related disclosures, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Proxy Statement, and other regulatory filings.
  • Own the Company’s SEC reporting calendar and disclosure process, ensuring compliance with SEC regulations, U.S. GAAP, SOX, and internal disclosure controls.
  • Serve as the primary subject-matter expert on SEC reporting matters, providing technical guidance on complex accounting, disclosure, and interpretive issues.
  • Partner closely with Corporate Accounting to ensure alignment between financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, and supporting schedules.
  • Collaborate with Investor Relations and executive leadership on earnings releases, earnings call scripts, investor presentations, and external financial messaging.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of the annual proxy statement, including governance disclosures, executive compensation tables, and shareholder communications.
  • Manage the Company’s use of Workiva to drive efficient, controlled, and collaborative SEC reporting and disclosure processes.
  • Coordinate with Legal, external auditors, and advisors to ensure accurate interpretation and application of SEC rules and disclosure requirements.
  • Lead disclosure controls and procedures (DCP) and support SOX compliance related to external financial reporting.
  • Monitor and assess emerging SEC regulations, accounting standards, and disclosure trends, proactively advising leadership on potential impacts.
  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting quality, clarity, and usability, including XBRL, digital reporting, and evolving ESG-related disclosures.
  • Prepare materials and support for Audit Committee and Board of Directors meetings related to external reporting, filings, and governance matters.
  • Mentor and develop SEC reporting and technical accounting talent, fostering a culture of precision, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Act as a key risk-management partner, identifying disclosure risks and ensuring appropriate controls, documentation, and review rigor are in place.
