In this role, you will be a member of our industry-leading planning and scheduling team that avoids costly surprises through the application of proven scheduling and project controls. Our comprehensive schedules ensure that projects are optimally planned, organized, and resourced. Versed in the means and methods of construction, and supported by state-of-the-art software and technology, our team produces projects that are free of surprises. We are currently looking for a Director, Scheduling to join our team in New York, NY. In this role, you will work with the scheduling team to ensure the team continues to exemplify the qualities that have made Cumming an industry leader. As the Director, Scheduling, you will support the growth of existing clientele in a variety of sectors and partner with other service line leaders at Cumming Group to provide an integrated project approach to clients.

Requirements

  • Ability to move from project focus to business mentality by showing potential for leadership & outstanding competence in service delivery.
  • Familiarity with adjudicative process: litigation, arbitration, expert determination, adjudication, ombudsmen, dispute review boards, mediation-Arbitration, technical forensics, etc.
  • Knowledge of and experience performing delay &/or quantum analysis.
  • Demonstrated success of project turn-around and recovery.
  • Manage and monitor team members' activity in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Delegate while providing clear instructions and ongoing feedback.
  • Monitor metrics and course correct as necessary while holding self and others accountable.
  • Provide feedback to senior leaders and clearly communicate organizational direction to team members.
  • Build relationships with key internal resources (peers, direct reports, & senior leaders).
  • Create development opportunities and plans for direct reports and teams; provide ongoing feedback.
  • Ability to begin to move from project tasks focus to more business mentality.
  • Demonstrate leadership traits and represent company values in a client facing capacity.
  • Ability to proactively influence changes; thinking through issue trends and scalable solutions that further organizational goals.
  • Experience identifying and driving accountability.
  • Ability to nurture regional/global team member and client relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify resources to keep current and network externally.
  • Ability to mentor/develop key team members (may be outside the chain of command).
  • Education: BS in Construction, CM, Engineering, QS, or related field
  • Experience: 10+ years in project scheduling, project/construction management and/or as a Project Engineer; 5+ years leading client expectations in a client facing-role

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Certification: CCM, PMP, PE, AIA, LEED

Responsibilities

  • Prepare fee proposals and negotiate professional service agreements.
  • Conflict resolution – both internal and external.
  • Coordinate staff utilization and assign team members to projects.
  • Provide quality assurance to project schedule deliverables.
  • Build and maintain the trust and respect of internal team members to ensure efficiency and cohesiveness.
  • Willingness to testify in construction disputes.
  • Prepare deliverables such as time impact analysis report, quantification of damages, OKR, and claims assessment.
  • Expand Business Development from solid service delivery to adding new clients.
  • Promote opportunities for repeat business and expanding into adding clients through good service delivery and creating highly favorable references through the effective coordination administration and communication of project tasks.
  • Comparative cost analysis, calculation of damages & counter-damages.
  • People Management (i.e., coaching, mentoring, admin).
  • Observe potential internal/external conflict and implement proactive solutions to mitigate conflict.
  • Train junior team members with a focus on building technical skills and competencies.
  • Identified area of expertise striving to become SME (time, industry, standards, quantum, risk management, etc.).
  • Consult executive level existing clientele, showcasing the services that have made Cumming an industry leader by consistently making client needs top priority.
  • Increase services to existing clientele by providing solutions to their issues and develop new revenue generating business.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment and development of diverse and talented team members.
  • Partner with other Cumming service line leaders with the goal of providing an integrated project approach to clients and setting Cumming apart from competitors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
