About The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced Rail Key Account Director to lead strategic client relationships and drive business growth within the rail industry. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on managing key accounts, expanding business opportunities, and delivering tailored solutions to major rail clients. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in the rail/locomotive domain , strong commercial acumen, and a proven track record of managing large accounts and closing complex deals.

Requirements

  • 10–15 years of experience in rail industry sales, account management, or business development
  • Proven ownership of large accounts ($5M+ portfolio)
  • Strong experience driving large deals and complex sales cycles
  • Experience working with rail OEMs, locomotive design companies, or infrastructure providers
  • Demonstrated success in both account farming and new business development
  • Deep understanding of: Rail operations (freight & passenger) Safety standards and regulatory frameworks Rail industry trends (digitalization, sustainability, automation)
  • Strong experience in RFPs, proposal development, and pricing strategies
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong negotiation and presentation abilities
  • Strategic thinking with a results-driven mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Transport Management, or related field

Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship Management Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers in the rail industry Act as the primary point of contact for existing and prospective clients Conduct regular client meetings to understand business needs and identify growth opportunities
  • Business Development Identify and pursue new business opportunities within rail accounts Build and manage a strong sales pipeline to ensure consistent revenue growth Meet and exceed quarterly and annual sales targets
  • Sales & Negotiation Lead preparation of proposals, contracts, and pricing models Manage complex RFP processes, including compliance with rail safety and regulatory standards Negotiate commercial terms to secure long-term partnerships and large-scale deals
  • Project Coordination & Delivery Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, logistics, project management) Ensure successful delivery of projects on time and within budget Resolve client issues and maintain high customer satisfaction
  • Market Intelligence & Strategy Stay updated on rail industry trends, regulations, and innovations Provide strategic insights to leadership on market opportunities and competitive positioning
  • Reporting & Analytics Track account performance, pipeline, and revenue forecasts Analyze financial and operational metrics to drive profitability
