About The Position

The Director, Sales & Customer Accounts is responsible for leading and growing key customer relationships within the Heavy Machinery vertical for the Electrical Systems business. This role will oversee a team of Account Managers, drive sales strategy, customer engagement, and facilitate excellence through collaboration with the Program Management and Manufacturing teams. This role will act as the senior point of contact for strategic accounts, ensuring that CVG delivers value to customers while meeting revenue, margin, and growth objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or marketing, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in account management, sales, or business development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or director-level role.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities, strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, negotiation and influencing skills, excellent organizational and time management capabilities, self-starter with initiative, and effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/business systems is required.
  • Deep familiarity with strategic account management, RFQ and contract negotiation processes, and financial impact assessments.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20–30% (may fluctuate based on CVG and/or customer needs), lead cross-functional teams, influence decision-making at all organizational levels, solve practical and strategic challenges, and drive results in a dynamic environment.

  • MBA preferred.
  • Possess an understanding of the Electrical Systems or Wire Harness business segments and a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships.
  • Working knowledge of CVG’s product offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Account Managers and Sr. Account Managers to ensure effective customer coverage, account strategy execution, and sales performance.
  • Demonstrates strong ownership of the business by proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and actionable plans to drive performance and results
  • Proactively takes ownership of challenges by driving solutions with urgency and initiative, demonstrating a bias for action rather than relying on direction
  • Engages deeply in operational and financial performance by analyzing data and key metrics to inform fact based, confident decision making and communication
  • Develop and maintain strong, strategic relationships with key customers across multiple levels and functions within the organization.
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for strategic customer accounts, managing expectations and driving long-term partnerships.
  • Identify and pursue new market opportunities for existing and new product offerings.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales and account management plans to achieve annual revenue and profitability targets.
  • Collaborate with internal departments including Product Development, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to meet customer requirements and support business growth initiatives.
  • Provide executive-level support in the RFQ process, contract negotiations, and bid strategy development.
  • Monitor and assess market trends, customer developments, and competitor activity to inform account strategy.
  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of escalated customer issues and support needs.
  • Prepare and maintain executive summaries, sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and customer business reviews.
