About The Position

The Safety Director at Cayman Chemical is responsible for overseeing all safety and regulatory activities within the organization. This role involves ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local occupational safety laws, managing hazardous waste, and serving as the principal liaison during site inspections. The Safety Director will lead a team of 6 to 8 employees and develop training programs on various safety topics to promote a safe working environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (environmental science, chemistry, etc.).
• 10 years of experience in safety and regulatory compliance.
• Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Expertise with regulations such as OSHA/MIOSHA, EPA/MDEQ, NFPA.
• Ability to develop and implement safety programs.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct all Safety and Regulatory activities with a team of 6 to 8 employees.
• Develop and maintain company programs to ensure compliance with federal (OSHA), state (MIOSHA), and local occupational safety laws.
• Manage all Hazardous and bio-hazardous/medical waste compliance.
• Complete all annual Federal/State/County environmental regulatory reporting.
• Obtain and maintain all required Federal (DEA) registrations for controlled substances.
• Serve as the principal liaison during site inspections with regulatory agencies.
• Create, develop, implement, and conduct training on various safety topics.
• Participate on Cayman's Emergency Response Team.
