SUMMARY The Director of Revenue Accounting is responsible for the integrity, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our critical financial models used to analyze historical performance, calculate true-up revenue, and provide actionable business insights for a healthcare services company. The successful candidate will blend deep financial modeling expertise with a strong understanding of the healthcare revenue cycle.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Business Intelligence, or Revenue Cycle Analyst role, preferably within the healthcare sector (provider, payer, or services).
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare revenue cycle, including billing, coding (CPT/ICD), claims processing, and gross-to-net revenue calculations.
  • Strong communication skills with C-suite level leadership
  • Excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to complete a task or project, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, and ability to execute despite ambiguity
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a quantitative field.
  • Excel (VBA, PowerQuery, complex nested formulas)
  • DAX and SQL for querying large datasets.

  • Data Visualization Tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Model Ownership and Maintenance:
  • Serve as the single point of ownership of the Power BI revenue model that calculates revenue and gross-to-net adjustments based on SDS contractualsin partnership with ECP IT
  • Assess net AR at the encounter level to then assess proper denial risk and credit risk reserves, applying a grid-based methodologythat is reviewed with CAO/CFO/RCM
  • Review and analyze the OPT net credit balances for proper liability valuation that is reviewed with CAO/CFO/RCM
  • Propose and discuss monthly net AR adjustments needed to properly recognize revenue based on the three steps above
  • Ensure data validation procedures are performed to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the source data fees into the model
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of the model’s logic, assumptions, data flows, and methodology for audit and knowledge transfer purposes
  • Routinely review the cash-to-net to validate the revenue recognition is collectable on a hindsight basis, target 99%
  • Analysis and Reporting:
  • Review the monthly revenue closing package with the divisional finance team which includes historical revenue trends, key performance indicators, and change in prior adjustments
  • Assist with the compilation of on-top out-of-model adjustments needed for proper revenue recognition, if needed
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with Revenue Cycle, Financial Operations and Accounting teams to contextualize model output, validateassumptions and ensure alignment between forecasting models and operational processes.
  • Serve as the financial modeling expert during external audits, clearly articulating the model’s structure and calculations
