About The Position

Integrates Respiratory Care departmental activities into the organization's primary function. Creates and manages the financial and clinical operational strategy for the Respiratory Care Department. Coordinates and integrates Respiratory Care interdepartmental and intradepartmental services. Ensures enough qualified and competent teammates to carry out the functions of the department. Assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided. Establishes the qualifications and competence of departmental personnel. Oversees the maintenance of personnel records, as well as, adheres to Advocate Health's guidelines for human relations in dealing with staff, patients, visitors, and physicians. Oversees the maintenance of quality and infection control programs as appropriate. Develops strategy for orientation, in-service training, and education to all persons within the Respiratory Care Department. Maintains Joint Commission and other regulatory organizations standards. Manages communications with and reports to Administration and the Medical Director in accordance with hospital needs. Leads/Participates on hospital committees and task force projects, as requested. Requires repetitive physical activity. Able to walk and stand to perform duties. Ability to lift materials 20-50 pounds. Ability to move patients of all age groups. Adequate hearing and eyesight is necessary. Exposures to working environment that may include odors, low lighting, and crowded working conditions. Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Respiratory Care required.
  • Master's degree with 4 years of related management experience required or Bachelor's degree with 7 years of related management experience required.
  • Licensed as Respiratory Care Provider by the applicable state Respiratory Care Board.
  • Credentials by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Membership in the national chapter of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) is required.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) is required.
  • Advanced certification per facility.
  • Requires repetitive physical activity.
