About The Position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Director Research Regulatory Affairs for the Office for Research. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Research Regulatory Affairs. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Provides strategic leadership and oversight for the university’s comprehensive research compliance and security programs. Integrates and expands the functions of research security, export control, and research integrity, while supervising a team of program professionals. Ensures institutional compliance with federal, state, and university regulations, including but not limited to NSPM -33, ITAR , EAR , OFAC , and research misconduct policies. Pays a critical role in safeguarding the university’s research enterprise, promoting a culture of integrity, and enabling secure and compliant global research collaborations. Overview The Office for Research’s mission is to support the research, scholarship, and creative endeavors of all Rutgers faculty. The Office accomplishes its mission by convening with academic and research leaders, providing integrated, user-focused resources, services, and tools, and partnering with faculty.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral or terminal degree (JD, PhD, EdD) in a relevant field.
  • Certified Export Compliance Officer or similar credential.
  • Experience with compliance software (e.g., Visual Compliance) and secure data systems.
  • Experience engaging with federal agencies and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing university-wide compliance programs.
